Ayesha Jhulka reveals why she refrains from attending filmi parties
Actor Ayesha Jhulka feels that a lot has changed in terms of how young people today aspiring to become actors are bold in their approach.
After a hiatus from films for almost eight years, actor Ayesha Jhulka is all set to make an appearance in director Anil Sharma’s upcoming film Genius. Asked if she’s still in touch with any of her contemporaries, she says, “Yes, I have remained in touch with Govinda, Neelam, and many more. We keep connecting time and again.”
While filmi parties in Bollywood is where everyone gets to socialise, Ayesha isn’t seen at any such dos. Prod her on that and she explains, “I kind of refrain from attending parties. I only go to a party if I feel connected, otherwise I can’t be somewhere just for the heck of it. If some close friend is throwing a party, I do make a point to attend, but not many,” says the actor.
Many young aspiring actors go to Mumbai everyday to try their luck in films. Ayesha, who shot to fame with the 1992 film Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander and has been a part of films such as Khiladi (1992) and Waqt Hamara Hai (1993), was also one of them. Luckily, she got her first film quite early and even her parents accompanied Ayesha to Mumbai to support her.
Therefore, the actor feels that today’s generation of aspiring actors is much sharper and careful. “Children today are more aware and bold. A lot of them come [to Mumbai] and stay on their own, and fight their own battles — whether it’s a girl or a boy. In our times too, people were left alone to struggle, but parents took the responsibility for them. Today, we see there’s a lot of frustration among people who are not able to make it in films, that’s where some go the wrong way. I don’t think I could have stayed alone in my time,” she concludes.
